One of the few institutions outside the major urban centers dedicated to art, architecture and design, Price Tower Arts Center is home to a growing collection of modern and contemporary art, works on paper, furniture, textiles and design. The primary mission of the Arts Center is to preserve Frank Lloyd Wright's only realized skyscraper and to explore the intersection of art, architecture and design in the 20th and 21st Centuries. The permanent collection includes significant pieces by Frank Lloyd Wright and renowned Oklahoma architect Bruce Goff, Dennis Oppenheim, Karim Rashid, Zaha Hadid, as well as other seminal examples of 20th and 21st century art, architecture and design. Research materials in the collections and museum library are available through the Architecture Study Center, open year round to students, scholars and the general public.
A vibrant year-round exhibition schedule features a wide range of art, architecture and design from around the globe. The Arts Center hosts important exhibitions from its own collections and from the collections of other museums.
Price Tower Arts Center galleries feature both temporary and permanent collection on view Tuesday-Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 12pm to 5pm. Tours available daily, during normal business hours. (Due to the high volume of visitors, reservations are encouraged).
Group Tower Tours
Group tours (25 guests max) of the Tower must be arranged two weeks prior to the date of the tour.
Groups must be paid in full one week in advance of the tour date. The admission price includes a guided Tower tour and museum galleries admission. Group tours must be arranged outside of PTAC's regularly scheduled public tours at the times of 11 am and 2 pm. Tour groups can only be taken up to the top of the Tower 8 at a time, so large groups will be rotated through the tour, museum galleries and video presentation.
Depending on the size of the tour group, tours can take anywhere from one to two hours. This time frame does not include a restroom break. We have limited facilities in the exhibition galleries and no restrooms on the tour. It is recommended that groups allow extra time for restroom breaks. Please allow at least one hour for the guided tour, time for restroom breaks and time to view the temporary and permanent exhibitions on the first and second floors.
For groups of 15 or more the bus driver will be permitted complimentary admission.
To book group visits please call the Group Tour Coordinator at 918-336-4949.
The design, in fact, did not shrink. Rather the footprint was slightly modified to accomodate not only the original apartment design, but also office spaces within the tower. The original 1929 St. Mark's in the Bouwerie design called for multiple apartment towers, but when it was revisited in the early 1950s, Wright determined one tower was sufficient for the H.C. Price Company's needs.
Refer to Price Tower's Catalogue published by Rizzoli: Prairie Skyscraper: Frank Lloyd Wright's Price Tower, 2005 for more details on the design to construction of the Price Tower.
You may take as many photos of the exterior as you like; however, Price Tower Arts Center does not allow photography (no digital, camera phones, or film cameras) inside the museum or on the tours to preserve the works of art and prevent copyright infrindgement.
